This is the most exciting build that we've been asked to complete to date! Our client has a very clear understanding of the product, so much so that he provided photos of the finished product!
The weapon of choice for this bad boy! A 502 Ramjet. It'll be put on the dyno before we pull it apart to make sure it's running great. We are also interested to see how it compares to the advertised power figures.
We've also received a B&M TH400 rated to 850hp and a gear vendors overdrive system to transfer the power of the big block through to the diff. Our customer made mention of fitting a blower at a later date so we made sure we had a drive line that could handle the mumbo!
Here we had started smoothing out the underside of the chassis and boxing up the body mount brackets for a smooth finish.
Next on the agenda was the rust repairs.
The floor and boot were affected, a new re-production floor was installed.
The spare-wheel well was deleted during repairs, to make way for a custom boot install.
While the boys were waiting for the front guards and bonnet arrive, the engine was fitted, as well as the radiator and petrol tank. All of the chassis rubber is brand new. The firewall will be modified to provide more room for the engine.
Panel Gaps - When the front body panels were bolted in, the inconsistency of the gaps between panels was noticeable. The panels just were not fitting right, closing one gap meant creating another. The gaps will be perfect once we are done with them.
A complete disc brake conversion was carried out, with bigger wheels. There was no way the standard drum-brakes would have copped with the power levels.
The engine bay is starting to look tidy, still a lot of work ahead. A pair of inner fenders were custom made by hand. You can see the process below.
The headers and exhaust were custom made, to suit the big block motor. While waiting for the brake booster, the boys start working on the roof.
The chassis is finally painted.
While the body was off the chassis, the steering and drive-line components were given a coat of paint.
